Swedish artist Jerry Roupe started her career as graphic designer and illustrator of children’s books. She was an incredibly talented artist with a huge portfolio and got her breakthrough as poster artist at Cologne fair in 1955.
During her career she worked with oil and acryl, with textiles and graphic design, primarily screen prints. In 1960 she created the design “Tomteparad”, which instantly became extremely popular.
Her son Michael remembers how strange he found his summer holidays to be, when his mother painted the santas, which typically are associated with the Christmas season.
From the 1980’s and to her death she worked with oil and her abstract paintings vibrated of glowing colours, which still attracts a lot of attention.
